History of Direct Selling in Singapore直销在新加坡的历史

Direct selling and multi-level marketing was originally prohibited under the Multi-Level Marketing and Pyramid Selling (Prohibition) Act 1973. It was not until 2000 when the Parliament of Singapore amended the Act, allowing licensed direct selling companies to enter the market.

Amway Singapore commenced its operations on 2 April 2002 as Amway Singapore Pte Ltd (ASPL). Based on its Fiscal Year 2007 Fact Sheet, Amway Singapore currently has over 30,000 distributors, serviced by an office cum warehouse located at the first and second levels of Pacific Tech Centre, Jalan Kilang Timor (off Jalan Bukit Merah) staffed by 35 employees. Amway Singapore is currently headed by its Country Manager, Mr. Leo Boon Wang, who is also the current Chairman of Direct Selling Association of Singapore (DSAS).

Amway Singapore launched about 200 different types of Exclusive Local brand products in February 2011, it includes Home Appliances, Jewelery, MyBodyShaper Garment, Fashion Accessories, Home & Decor, Apparels, Leathers and small goods, Personal Items, Infant/Child products, Automotive Lubricants products, Houseware & Aerosol, Foods & Beverages and Festive Seasoning products.

Singapore Tourism Board Recognition

In 2005, Amway received the Special Recognition Award from Singapore Tourism Board (STB) - for bringing in more than 15,000 top Distributors (from China) into Singapore.

Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Award

To be a Trusted Brand winner, a brand must reach a high level of both quantitative and qualitative scores, performing clearly above other brands in the same category. The brand has to be the top five brands across at least three markets in order to achieve the Trusted Brand Award for ASIA region.

Since 2005, Amway has won the ASIA Gold Award in the following categories for five consecutive years:

  • Nutrilite - Asia Gold Award (Vitamins/Health Supplement Category)
  • Amway WTS/eSpring - Asia Gold Award (Water Purifier Category)

Singapore Children's Society Recognition

In appreciation for our contribution towards their fund-raising effort, the Singapore Children's Society awarded Amway Singapore with the Merit Award in 2006, the Silver Award in 2007 and 2008. Beginning November 2009, Amway Singapore set up the Amway Enrichment Fund for the Society, whereby S$ 2 from every purchase of the L.O.C Multi-Purpose Cleaner or SA8 Premium Laundry Concentrate (750 g pack) would be contributed to the Fund.


Amway Singapore is actively involved in voluntary services at the Sunbeam Place (formerly known as the Convalescent Home, a half-way house for abandoned and abused children, under the Singapore Children’s Society). Amway Singapore organised a fund-raising event ‘Nutrilite Walk & Optimal Health Carnival’ in March, to help the Children’s Society raise funds. We also sponsored the prizes for the Donation Draw 2007. In appreciation of our contribution, the Singapore Children’s Society awarded Amway Singapore the Silver Award in 2007.
