BRANDON CHOI & YII CHIEH Diamond Direct Distributor Since I was nine years old, I have been attending AMWAY meetings with my parents. As I grew up with AMWAY, I signed up when I turned 18 but I could not focus much on the business until I graduated from college. Finally, at the age of 22, I decided to build my AMWAY business seriously.

At first, Yii Chieh was sceptical because she had many misconceptions about the business. However, after attending a few meetings, she was convinced and started to build the business together with me on a part- time basis.

Initially, we faced many challenges. As fresh graduates, we did not have our own car so we relied heavily
 on public transport to attend meetings or go for appointments. We did not have much business knowledge or experience. As my parents are in Kuantan and we are in Kuala Lumpur, we had to conduct most of the activities ourselves.

With our full-time jobs, we could only build our AMWAY business outside office hours – during the night, on weekends and public holidays – when others were enjoying their break. For us, the saying, “No Pain, No Gain”, rings true as we realised sacrifices have to be made to realise a dream. After few years of hard work, we qualified as Platinum in 2008, Founders Platinum in 2009, and Sapphire and Emerald in 2012.

During this time, we were both promoted. I was a product marketing specialist with a US-based IT company, while Yii Chieh was a business analyst with an insurance company. Despite that, we both chose to leave our stable and satisfying jobs in August 2014 after we qualified as Diamond in July 2014.
